ABN AMRO Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

ABN AMRO Bank N.V. is a Dutch bank with headquarters in Amsterdam. ABN AMRO Bank is the third-largest bank in the Netherlands. It was re-established in its current form in 2009, following the acquisition and break-up of the original ABN AMRO by a banking consortium consisting of Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Santander Group and Fortis. Following the collapse of Fortis, who acquired the Dutch business, it was nationalized by the Dutch government along with Fortis Bank Nederland. It was relisted as a public company again in 2015.

Yoan-Aleksandar shared his outrage: "ABN AMRO is the most disgusting bank I’ve ever had the unpleasant experience of dealing with!!!! Don’t ever bank with this excuse for a bank. They don’t deserve your money , go somewhere else and don’t even consider them. They are rude , provide horrible customer service. You can never get an advisor to actually give decent advice. You talk to them on the phone , go through the application process and then you get rejected. Just don’t bother with this pathetic bank , my pension fund is with them and I’m going to start to look for ways to transfer that away from there. They are absolutely the worst bank in the Netherlands!!! It’s better to keep your money in a mattress than with this excuse for a financial institution."

Wij leggen de nabestaanden uit wat er van hen wordt verwacht en wat er op hen af gaat komen. Vervolgend doe ik alle administratieve processen die moeten worden uitgevoerd."

Callcenter medewerker (Former Employee) says

"Het begint leuk, opleiding leuke collega's etc. Vervolgens wordt je gevraagd om ook verzekeringen aan te prijzen waarvan eerst wordt gezegd dat dit vrijblijvend is om te doen. En een half jaar later werd dit ineens een verplichting waarop je werd beoordeeld en afgerekend. Er werden hierom vele contracten van mensen niet verlengd ( die er al 3 jaar werkten!) Hufter-Bank! Current Employee - Associate says

"I have been working at ABN AMRO full-time for more than a year Cons: Weak management team that has no ambition, no desire to grow in banking, largely a dead bank with no avenues to truly succeed in a global economy. ABN AMRO will be stagnant for the forseeable future"

Former Employee - Business Analyst says

"I worked at ABN AMRO full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Prior to Reorganization of IT company"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at ABN AMRO full-time Cons: Benefits are archaic and senior management is out of touch. It's nothing but a "good ole" boys environment filled with shady customers and management. They want "yes" people."

Current Employee - Vice President says

"I have been working at ABN AMRO full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Office moral is bad especially in the IT department. Poor responses from IT for business issues most likely due to poor treatment by CIO and his immediate managers. CIO has largest office in the place yet has his employees in cubes that get smaller and smaller. The CIO was seen yelling at a former CEO from the Netherlands when that CEO was on his way out. Very petty. The CIO bought millions of dollars of equipment and let it sit for years only to deploy it when he could get more cronies from his old firm to join his group. We needed that equipment sooner for better response times for our trading. Who knows how much money was wasted and still is due to lack of foresight, movement and leadership by this CIO."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at ABN AMRO full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Overly-centralized, global organizational structure prioritizes head office requirements and actually creates competition for limited resources between locations. Amsterdam is tone-deaf regarding local customer complaints and actually deploys gatekeeper managers who not only don't support local initiatives but actually obstruct local needs in order to appease Amsterdam. Recent departures within ranks of senior management may point to realization that future opportunities are limited given ingrained structural problems."

Current Employee - Security Expert says

"I have been working at ABN AMRO full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Very toxic environment where the opportunities are not given to everyone. No equal opportunities, and it completely depends on if you are dutch or expats, have a a good personal relationship with the 'inner circles' of the big boss of the departments. - Best talented employees are always leaving because they fed-up with this and they get impacted mentally with this type of too much politics"

"I have been working at ABN AMRO Cons: Lack of strategy, lack of relevant management and expertise. Senior management are living in their own world"

Current Employee - Information Security says

"I have been working at ABN AMRO full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Too much politics, bureaucracy, suffered from alot of stress because of this too much politics. The good salary you are getting, can never compensate the stress coming out of the toxic environment. - Dutch are always given higher opportunities compared to expats. You can never grow up as expart, no matter your efforts, qualifications and skills. - too much gossips and less work."

Current Employee - Front Office Support Market Support says

"I have been working at ABN AMRO full-time for more than 5 years Cons: I worked at Abn Amro Clearing Sydney for 5 years and the place went from good to horrible. Controlled from Singapore, constantly firing or bullying people out for no reason."

GES Support says

"I have been working at ABN AMRO for more than a year Cons: Not a ideal culture, constant bullying and harrasment GES team is a place to avoid like plague The manager constantly complains about employees and is totally incompetent. Makes your life miserable"

Андрей Енин says

"Every time I need to use my credit card ther is some kind of problem that can not be solved online or by the telephone. This is just very poor level of service. One time I forgot my pin and could not receive the new one, another time the amount on credit card was filled and I could not increase it or pay out amount from my current account. Helpdesk is useless."

Neeraj says

"A magnificently horrible bank i have seen in my life. I have been in 4 countries and did banking with top class banks, this piece of garbage bank is most horrible. I applied for loan and they rejected claiming not enough balance, i applied for a moderately small loan for which i have half the amount in my bank account. This people say you don't have money. In what universe is this a valid reason, also why would someone apply for loan if they have enough money in their banking account, it just doesn't make any sense. If you don't want to give loans then just don't waste time of customers, all the trouble you put us with filling forms. Or just tell people you are not eligible on first step, can't you perform the calculation before hand when i applied for loan.?. Is your software that incompetent."

Susan Mbuthia says

"Let me say, several years down the line, I am still shocked at their very bad customer service"

Nicolas Geijo says

"Frustrating and very bureaucratic bank. It is impossible to find someone to talk to that doesn't act like a bot and tacit human knowledge is difficult to come by. Truth be told some workers are nicer than others. Some would only be looking for the first excuse they can find to hang up the phone (most actually) while others will reach some bureaucratic loop and be unable to perform normal human deduction to bypass it, being from that point unable to help. I blame more the bank structure than the workers."
